Aug 2022Grainger Motor Group is Formed
Brothers Harry & Neal Grainger come together to form Grainger Motor Group. Having started out in the automotive industry aged 16 & 18 working in a family run dealer group for over 40 years. Neal & Harry joined Norton Way Motors as trainees working throughout all areas of the business, eventually helping to run the business as Operations Director & Finance Director.

Jan 2023Grainger Motor Group acquires Mantles Group
Grainger Motor Group acquires Mantles Group Ltd, a 100-year-old family business, with a Kia dealership on York Way in Royston, Hertfordshire. The Mantles family had run the business for three generations, John Mantle and the Grainger’s share key values, underpinning the culture of a family run business, recognising our staff are the biggest asset to the business. These values and the succession of the business to continue under family ownership was a key reason John Mantle agreed to sell Mantles to Harry & Neal.

Dec 2023Acquisition of EMG Used Cars in Royston.
Grainger Motor Group adds it’s second site with the acquisition of EMG Used Cars in Royston. Mantles Group Ltd grows to two sites acquiring the site located next door, growing the footprint of our Royston site to 2.6acres.

Jan 2024Grainger Motor Group Aquires EMG Anglia
Grainger Motor Group completes the acquisition of EMG Anglia Ltd from Nick Storey, EMG Holdings. EMG Anglia is a well-established business with 14 dealerships across East Anglia, representing Kia in Cambridge, Ely, Thetford and King’s Lynn, MG Ipswich, Mazda Boston & Cambridge and specialist Used car dealerships in Huntingdon, Haverhill, Duxford and Spalding. As part of this deal, Rent Direct, which offers car and van hire across East Anglia, was also included. This acquisition takes Grainger Motor Group to over 300 staff across 16 locations throughout Hertfordshire & East Anglia - making GMG one of the fastest growing family automotive dealer groups in the UK!

Grainger Motor Group wins 6 out of 7 awards at the Kia Dealer Excellence Conference for their performance in 2024. This is something the Grainger’s are very proud of, considering the Kia dealer network is very strong and there over 180 dealers.

Tom, who was my salesperson, was super efficient, transparent and above all friendly and professional at all times (without being pushy). I had plenty of questions about the Audi A3 I wanted to purchase and he was able to answer everything or get back to me via email, swiftly, once he had looked into my query. On the day of collection, everything ran seamlessly, and I was impressed with how well my new car had been valeted (it was immaculate!) and on top of that, had been stored in the showroom so that it stayed clean before my collection time. I enquired about the vehicle one night and was contacted straight away the next morning to answer some questions, I spoke to Jean Paul who was very knowledgable about the car and found out the information I needed to know. I then visited the site and dealt with Tom who was brilliant and answered all my questions and come with me on the test drive where he was very calm and gave good directions and told me more about the vehicle. I had noticed some paint chips which I explained wasn't too much of an issue, but Tom had got most of them out by the time I went to pick the vehicle up, and also had the vehicle reserviced after he noticed there was a slight noise. Going to pick the vehicle up was really exciting and I trusted everyone the whole time and was really looked after. I cannot recommend them enough for all what they have done before, during and after buying the vehicle!
