Motability

As a leading automotive retailer in the East of England, we at EMG Motor Group are proud to be partners of the government-funded Motability Scheme. Set up to help disabled drivers retain their independence by providing specially adapted vehicles, it’s been used by over 640,000 customers all over the UK.

We supply a huge range of vehicles that can be accessed via the scheme. Our Kia, Mazda, MG and Nissan dealerships all offer models which suit a range of requirements – so whether you require a large vehicle that can be adapted for easier access or a nippy runaround for your everyday needs, we’ll be happy to help. Our trained Motability specialists can chat to you about your requirements, recommend models and help you determine which adaptations – many of which are free – you may need.

Am I eligible for the Motability Scheme?

In order to qualify for the Motability Scheme, you must be in receipt of one of the following mobility allowances, of which there must be at least 12 months’ award length remaining:

  • Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)
  • Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
  • War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

All or part of your allowance is then exchanged for the car of your choice. â€‹

Benefits of the Motability Scheme

There are lots of benefits to the Motability Scheme. Not only do you get access to a brand new car, your monthly payments also cover a range of extras such as aftersales care, roadside assistance and insurance. If you don’t drive, you can nominate up to two people to drive on your behalf; if you’re a parent or guardian of a child over three years old who receives a mobility allowance, you can also apply for the scheme.
