Why Buy An MG?

Discover why MG is becoming the fastest-selling brand in the UK

Here at EMG, we’re proud to represent a number of much-loved manufacturers in both a new car and/or service capacity, trusted by them as both a retailer and a team of maintenance experts. One of these vehicle manufacturers is a brand with plenty of history, but still manages to be a fresh face on the scene; MG

MG was founded way back in the 1920s as a sports vehicle maker specialising in two-seaters and sleek saloons and coupés. This remained the case throughout various name changes as it was controlled by different companies, including British Leyland and MG Rover.

From 2009, however, it has been known officially as MG Motor. Between 2011 and 2013, MG made a proper comeback in the guise we know and love today; a brand offering great value, attractive cars, and a whole lot of fun.

Why buy an MG?

Value for money

To put it simply, MGs are budget friendly without compromising on style. Their cute and compact entry-level MG3 starts brand-new from just £13,820, which offers new car tech and style without the hefty price tag. As you can imagine, this makes used models a very appealing prospect indeed.

An incredible warranty

How does being protected for 7 whole years sound? This is exactly what MG warranty has offered on all models since September 2019, a length of time rivalled only by Kia and Ssangyong. So confident are MG in the design and build of their diverse range of models, thanks to their thorough testing and high standards, that you can count on them for warranty protection for 7 years.

Forward-thinking designs and technology

There’s no denying it, MG has asserted itself on the roads with designs that catch your eye. They’re not just a pretty face either; MG has developed MG Pilot, which includes safety systems that help drivers on their travels through technology such as emergency braking, blind spot assist, and cross-traffic alerts.

Which MG should I buy?

MG HS & MG HS Plug-in Hybrid

Sitting head and shoulders above MG’s other offerings is the manufacturer’s majestic SUV, the MG HS. With a dynamic look as well as a family-friendly interior, it ticks a lot of boxes for those looking for a larger car, and for the environmentally conscious, there’s the plug-in version too.

MG quality comes at an affordable price, even on their bigger vehicles - the HS models start at just £23,555.

The plug-in hybrid model harnesses the power of the petrol model’s 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, which works alongside a 90kW electric motor to give an EV-only range of 32 miles - that’s an emission-free commute for many!

All-New MG4 EV

We love the MG4 EV so much that we wrote a whole blog about it, but in short, it’s a futuristic electric car with a price tag that’s manageable for most looking to dip their toe in the world of battery-powered motoring.

Alongside its obviously eye-catching design, the MG4-EV is home to MG Pilot, a 10.25" colour touchscreen, iSMART user app, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, even on the entry-level SE model.

In terms of spaciousness, because the electric drivetrain keeps that central ‘hump’ low in the back, even the 5th passenger has got room to get comfortable. Plus, with a boot capacity of 363 litres, there's plenty of room for shopping, luggage, and all the kid paraphernalia.

MG3

The MG3 is a spacious city car, with enough versatility to take you pretty much anywhere. It performs best on those around-town journeys, nipping with ease from A to B.

The MG3 range is available with so much useful tech inside, including Bluetooth telephone and audio streaming as standard, as well as an 8" touchscreen and Apple CarPlay on Excite and Exclusive models.

MG ZS and all-new MG ZS EV

Another great-looking SUV from MG, the ZS offers style and space in equal measure, with plenty of features on board to keep both driver and passengers content on their travels. The updated interior now offers even more boot space, making it a very attractive prospect for those regularly carrying cargo.

The ZS EV features an improved 72kWh lithium-ion battery to deliver efficient electric power, with a driving range of up to 273 miles*, plus a 10.1” colour touchscreen as standard, and Wireless Mobile Phone Charging and Adaptive Cruise Control on the Trophy and Trophy Connect models.

MG5 EV Long Range

The MG5 EV Long Range is the second generation of MGs multi award-winning fully-electric estate car - now you don’t get many of them around!

There is, we’re proud to say, a whopping 1367 litres of boot capacity, which opens a world of possibilities for frequent travellers.  On board, there’s a 10.25" colour touchscreen and a 360-degree parking camera on the top-spec Trophy Long Range. Plus, there’s an iSMART user app for monitoring vehicle status and scheduling charging.
